How to make Easy Honey Hickory Smoke BBQ Sauce:

Mix the ingredients in a saucepan.

MIX IT: In a medium saucepan add ketchup, honey, white vinegar, molasses, liquid smoke, salt, black pepper, chili powder, onion powder, garlic powder, and dry mustard. Mix to combine.

simmer the mixture in the saucepan.

SIMMER: Place saucepan on the smaller burner of your stove and cook over medium heat until sauce starts to simmer.

test the sauce for thickness.

Reduce heat to low and continue cooking, scraping down the sides and turning occasionally (watch out for splatters). Simmer until sauce thickens, about 15-20 minutes.

reduce the heat and cook down a bit.

COOL IT: The BBQ sauce is now ready to be used. As the sauce cools, it will continue to thicken slightly.

Once completely cool, refrigerate any unused portions in an air tight container for up to 3-4 weeks.

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
