- Chickpeas – is the star ingredient of this Sweet Roasted Chickpeas recipe. We use dried chickpeas for this recipe. If you are busy, you can choose to use canned chickpeas. They need to be drained, rinsed and dried in order to have your chickpeas get crispy when roasting in the oven.
- Brown Sugar – Adds a deep, caramel or toffee-like flavor to this healthy snack.
- Cinnamon – This kid favorite spice adds a warm, distinctive flavor when combined with the brown sugar and maple syrup.
- Pure Maple Syrup – You may use honey or maple syrup. We love the caramelly flavor and natural sweetness added by maple syrup when coated on chickpeas.
- Cayenne Pepper – This is optional. If you want a to add a little spicy kick to these sweet chickpeas, simply add a pinch of cayenne pepper to the mix.
- Olive Oil – This helps the spices stick to and coat the chickpeas while helping to give it that addictive crunch. You may use avocado oil as well.
