Sweet and Tangy BBQ Wings

Sweet and tangy, sticky, and overall just yummy describes this family favorite. These Easy Baked BBQ wings are super easy to make and much healthier than fried wings.

Adjust oven rack to middle position and heat to 475 degrees F. Line a rimmed baking sheet with foil and top with a wire rack. Spray the wire rack (front and back) with cooking spray and set aside.

Pat the wings dry with paper towels and set aside. Make sure wings are at room temperature before baking. If using whole wings, be sure to cut them at the joints and discard the tips.

In a large bowl, add wings and toss with baking powder and salt. Be sure to use aluminum free baking powder and not baking soda.

Arrange the wings in single layer on the prepared wire rack. Next, roast the wings in your preheated 475 degree oven until golden on both sides, about 40 minutes.

Halfway through, flip the wings over and rotate the sheet pan in the oven so that the wings roast as evenly as possible.

While the wings are roasting, combine all the BBQ sauce ingredients, except scallions or cilantro, in a sauce pan over medium low heat.

Bring to a simmer and decrease heat to low. Reduce the sauce by 1/3, stirring occasionally and scraping down the sides of the pan, about 15-20 minutes. Once done, set aside.

When wings are done roasting, toss with 2/3 of the sauce and place under the broiler for 3-5 minutes; this will help caramelize the sauce. Watch carefully as these wings will burn quickly.

Remove from oven and brush on the reserved 1/3 sauce to freshen up the wings; garnish with scallions or cilantro.
